biography
After a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War period, Dick (Richard) became a New York Life Insurance Company licenced Agent in New York City.
His future wife, Solveig Ness, a Stewardess with PanAm was born and raised in Guatemala. They married in Long Island, New York and Solveig introduced Dick to family and friends in Guatemala. Dick saw there was a great market in Guatemala for what he was good at, recruiting and coaching people. They moved there in 1958.
Following two management positions with local Life Insurance companies, Dick founded his own firm, in 1966,
R.V.Bertrand Consultants (known locally as Consejeros R.V.Bertrand), specializing in Retained Executive Search services.
The leading multi-national and national companies quickly caught on to this superior way of finding top talent for key positions and his list of clients is impressive.
There are few countries in Latin America where his services have not been required to fill key positions, from CEO to Sales Reps.
Dick is a Founding Member of the American Chamber Of Commerce of Guatemala, Past President of the American Club and Past Commander of the American Legion. He has served on many Boards of Directors and is sought out as speaker on Leadership, Coaching and Management.
All Search Assignments are personally executed by Dick, there are no junior executives and no sales reps.
