biography
Bill Bonnell is President of Bonnell Associates Ltd., Southport, Connecticut, an executive search firm serving clients throughout the United States and internationally. He has over 25 years experience as an advisor to senior management, helping build and reshape organizations and participating in key management staffing decisions. Thirteen of those years have been spent as an executive search consultant recruiting executives in general management and all functional areas across a broad range of industries including financial services, healthcare, insurance, media/publishing, technology and e-business.
His earlier career included executive search and organization consulting with the human resources practice of Ernst and Young before joining Pan American World Airways as Corporate Director of Employment. From 1972 to 1982 he held various management positions with ITT in the United States and in Europe. During ITT's highest growth period, he successfully recruited executive teams at ITT World Headquarters and major subsidiaries throughout the world.
Later, as Vice President Executive Development at Merrill Lynch and Senior Vice President Human Resources at European American Bank and Equicor-Equitable/HCA Corporation, he helped to build and improve these management organizations.
Mr. Bonnell has consulted and trained executives in interviewing and the selection process and has developed management competency models for various corporations. He is a consultant, advisor and continuing student of the personal characteristics that promote leadership and management success.
He has a BA in Economics from Drew University, attended the London School of Economics, University of London, and has an MBA in Management from New York University where he studied under Peter Drucker. Mr. Bonnell is active with the Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management which brings together thought leaders from business, education and government with leaders of social sector organizations and evaluates finalist candidates for the Francis Hesselbein Community Innovation Fellows Program.
He is a member of International Insurance Society, Inc. (IIS), International Association of Corporate and Professional Recruiting (IACPR), and The British-American Chamber of Commerce (BACC).
