Jim Chandra

biography

Jim Chandra is a Partner of Amrop in Indonesia. Jim brings with him 30 years of experience in the energy sector with extensive involvement in oil and gas, mining, and construction. Other industries include wood-based, automotive, and transportation.

Prior to joining Amrop in early 2012, he was with Sandwell Engineering Inc, Indonesia - a leading Canadian engineering consulting firm operating in numerous countries – where he was Country Manager for the past 15 years (1995-2010). Jim’s hands-on experience in the oil industry was particularly evident when he was Managing Director of Sava Navetri, PT (1993-1995), a company specializing in environmental health and safety services for the private and public sectors in the oil and gas industry as well as in forestry. As President Director of Fenergi Cipta, PT (1991-1993) of the Fajar Mas Murni Group of Companies, Jim oversaw the exploration and production of oil in Indonesia.

Jim’s marketing and sales orientation and extensive network in the public sector as well as the private sector has been reinforced by his active membership in several chambers of commerce. These include the Indonesia Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), Indonesia British Association (IBA) and American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).

Key areas of professional competence include executive search, leadership assessment, board coaching, and strategic business advisory. He is a member of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC).

He holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with participation in professional development programs in Italy, Canada, and the United States. Extensive business travel have extended to the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and Europe. He is fluent in English, Indonesian, and 4 distinct Indonesian dialects.

Jim enjoys a range of sport activities including the martial arts and cross-country motor biking. Jim is married with three children.
