biography
James is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, attaining a BS in Corporate Communications with a minor concentration in Business Management and Marketing. Concurrent with his studies, James played football for the Division II SCSU Fighting Owls, starting 3 years as Tight End next to Staten Island’s own Joe Andruzzi, three-time SuperBowl Champion with the New England Patriots.
After graduation, James took a position with ESPN in Bristol, CT. His 7+ year tenure started as a Highlight and Feature Editor for Sportscenter and NFL Countdown. In James’ last three years, he excelled as a Technical Director for ESPNEWS, while training the Edit and Technical staff on new state-of-the-art equipment.
While employed with ESPN, James was active in the community. He became a part-time Certified Personal Trainer with Gold’s Gym in Bristol, CT. Also part-time, he held various positions with John Casablanca's Modeling Agency in Berlin, CT; teaching Commercial Acting to kids from ages 6 – 17, as well as teaching and modeling for area runway shows. In 1998, James joined the Connecticut Chapter of the Leukemia Society’s Team in Training program, completing his first marathon, while raising money and awareness for people and families affected by blood cancers. James also joined ESPN in the rehabilitation of homes through the Habitat for Humanities program. In 2003, James was introduced to insurance recruiting by his partner, and in June started with recruiting the Hartford, CT market.
Upon relocation back to New Jersey, James took a position to work with Andrew for an Insurance Recruiting Firm. James concentrated on NYC area placements in the Life, Health, and Financial arenas, until he added focus to Property & Casualty late 2004. James was educated by the American School of Business, having enrolled in both Property & Casualty, and Life & Health licensing courses.
Still active in the community today, James continues to be an active member of the Leukemia Society’s Team in Training program; in 2006 had participated in two half and two full marathons to raise awareness (two as a mentor coach). In May 2009, completed his 5th marathon while coaching a first-timer the entire race to complete just under 4 hours. Fall 2009 also marked his third year as a Volunteer Coach for the Wallkill Valley Youth Football League with a finishing record of 5-4.
