biography
Ramona Ferguson was graduated from Dickinson College magna cum laude and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where her honors included Phi Beta Kappa, Order of the Coif and note editor of the Law Review. She commenced her corporate legal career in 1979 at Buchanan Ingersoll P.C., where she specialized in real estate, public finance and health care. While at Buchanan, she was an active member of the firm's Recruiting Committee. Ms. Ferguson served on the Board of Directors for the Society of Hospital Lawyers of Western Pennsylvania, participated as a speaker at various health care finance seminars in Pennsylvania and Florida, and appeared as a guest lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Ms. Ferguson also served as General Counsel and a member of the Board of Directors for The Parental Stress Center.
Ms. Ferguson moved with her husband to the New York City area in 1986, where she continued her career as Assistant General Counsel for Sedgwick James, Inc., a national insurance brokerage firm. At Sedgwick, she had primary responsibility for all corporate and contractual matters for over 150 subsidiary entities and managed an active acquisition and divestiture program.
Ms. Ferguson left Sedgwick to pursue other professional interests. She was founder and co-owner of Ferguson & McQuillan, a design and manufacturing business providing floral products to wholesale and retail customers in the Northeast and Midwest. Ms. Ferguson remains involved in several civic, school and church activities, and has served as a member of the Boards of Directors of the local chapter of the United Way and the Plainfield Historic and Cultural Commission. Ms. Ferguson now resides in New Jersey with her husband and two children.
