biography
Lois L. Lindauer is one of New England’s best known entrepreneurs. Before founding Lois L. Lindauer Searches (LLLS), she launched the highly successful Diet Workshop, the nation’s first weight loss program to introduce behavior modification into its curriculum and incorporate a focus on fitness. Ms. Lindauer was the first woman in the United States to use the franchise system of distribution to build her business, and when she sold the system in 1991, Diet Workshop was generating more than $25 million.
Ready for her next challenge, Ms. Lindauer created LLLS in 1997 as a way to support Boston’s dynamic nonprofit community. What started as a one-person operation with a single client has expanded into a highly regarded executive search service that focuses solely on the recruitment of top-flight fundraisers. LLLS now has a staff of 9 and serves nonprofit clients throughout the United States and Canada. Its roster of distinguished clients include: the University of Rochester and the University of Rochester Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Law School, Lahey Clinic, Washington University in St. Louis, National Jewish Medical Center, Carnegie Mellon University, Partners In Health, University of Chicago, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, to name a few.
A resident of Boston, Ms. Lindauer has served on numerous boards throughout the city and is a cofounder of Sisters in Development. She has published five books on diet and exercise topics and is now in high demand as a speaker on career building and fundraising recruitment issues.
