Ms. Colette M Murray

biography

Ms. Murray has a professional record of over thirty-five years in senior level advancement at major education and health institutions throughout the country. She has served as the senior advancement executive at the University of California, Santa Cruz, University of Louisville, Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center, Henry Ford Health System, and Sharp HealthCare. Administrative responsibilities for these organizations have included Public Relations, Publications, Community Relations, Fundraising, and Alumni Affairs.

Ms. Murray is Past Chair of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and recently served on the board of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy Foundation. She is past president of the Health Systems Development Network of AHP and a past member of the AHP Board of Directors. She has had a long and active role as member of the AFP Ethics Committee and is a past chair of the Council for the Advancement & Support of Education (CASE).

Ms. Murray has been on the faculty for dozens of CASE, AFP and AHP conferences and seminars and has also taught fundraising management at Texas Tech University, Wayne State University, and University of California, San Diego. Ms. Murray is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and has a law degree from the University of San Francisco. She was in private law practice for a number of years where one of her specialties was employment law and later was appointed the first legal counsel for UC Berkeley. Ms. Murray is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in the West and the World’s Who’s Who of Women.

Ms. Murray is an alumnus of Leadership America and served as their president. She is also an alumnus of Leadership Texas, Leadership California, and LEAD San Diego. Colette is Past President of the San Diego Breakfast Rotary. She currently is a member of three boards and believes very strongly in volunteerism and diversity.
