Mr. Kenyatta L Uzzell

biography

Kenyatta L. Uzzell has more than a dozen years of experience as a recruiter. Since 2002, Kenyatta has served as the Executive Recruitment Manager for the Government of the District of Columbia. In this role, Kenyatta designed and implemented a new recruitment program to identify and hire Cabinet-level and other senior management officials to serve in the administration of Mayor Anthony A. Williams. One challenge of this position is that the city requires executives with the skills to lead agencies that handle state, county and/or local government functions.

Prior to joining the District government, Kenyatta worked at several professional staffing firms, including KForce Professional Staffing, Robert Half International, and Kelly Services. At KForce, Kenyatta started and staffed a new division of the company and achieved $1.5 million in revenue during the first year. He delivered sales and staffing presentations to senior executives at several Fortune 500 clients, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and MCI/Worldcom. In addition, he has helped recruit executives in the non-profit sector.

In 1993 Kenyatta received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he majored in English and minored in African American Studies. He also earned an MBA from Howard University School of Business in Washington, DC.

Kenyatta is an active member of several civic and professional organizations, including the National Forum of Black Public Administrators, the International Personnel Management Association and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He also served on the Executive Board of the DC Chapter of the National Black MBA Association.

He is married and resides in Washington, DC.
